About

About The Biohacking

The Biohacking is an independent health optimization blog built on one principle: if a claim can’t be backed by published research, it doesn’t belong here. We cover sleep science, cold and heat therapy, nootropics, gut health, metabolic optimization, breathwork, supplement protocols, and recovery strategies — all filtered through peer-reviewed evidence and practical application.

This site exists because the gap between academic research and everyday health advice is enormous. Published studies sit behind paywalls and dense jargon. Meanwhile, social media is full of unsourced claims and sponsored recommendations. We sit in between — reading the actual papers, extracting what matters, and presenting it in a way that’s useful without being dumbed down.

What We Cover

Our content spans nine core areas of biohacking and health optimization:

  • Sleep Science and Circadian Biology — sleep architecture, circadian rhythm optimization, evidence-based sleep supplements, and the relationship between sleep and cognitive performance.
  • Cold and Heat Therapy — cold water immersion protocols, sauna research (including the Finnish longitudinal data), contrast therapy, and the physiological mechanisms behind thermal stress adaptation.
  • Nootropics and Cognitive Enhancement — from well-studied compounds like caffeine and creatine to emerging research on lion’s mane, racetams, and prescription nootropics. We distinguish between marketing claims and clinical evidence.
  • Gut Microbiome Health — the gut-brain axis, prebiotic and probiotic protocols, fermented food research, and strategies for improving microbial diversity.
  • Cellular Longevity — NAD+ precursors, autophagy activation, senolytic research, telomere biology, and the hallmarks of aging framework.
  • Metabolic Health — blood sugar optimization, continuous glucose monitor data interpretation, insulin sensitivity, and metabolic flexibility training.
  • Breathwork — Wim Hof method, box breathing, physiological sighing, CO2 tolerance training, and their measurable effects on the nervous system.
  • Supplement Stacks — dosing protocols, bioavailability differences between supplement forms, timing strategies, and which combinations have synergistic evidence.
  • Recovery and Inflammation — HRV-guided training, compression therapy, anti-inflammatory nutrition, and the distinction between acute and chronic inflammation.

Our Editorial Approach

Every article on The Biohacking follows a consistent standard:

  • Claims are supported by peer-reviewed research, with specific studies, authors, and journals cited in context.
  • We distinguish between strong evidence (large randomized controlled trials, systematic reviews) and preliminary findings (animal studies, small pilot trials, observational data).
  • Dosing recommendations reflect what was actually used in clinical research, not manufacturer suggestions.
  • We disclose when evidence is limited or conflicting rather than presenting one-sided conclusions.
  • No sponsored content, no affiliate-driven recommendations, and no paid product placements influence our coverage.

About the Editor

The Biohacking is written and maintained by a dedicated health optimization researcher with years of experience analyzing clinical literature across nutrition science, exercise physiology, sleep medicine, and supplementation. The editorial process involves reviewing primary sources — not press releases or secondary reporting — and translating complex findings into actionable protocols.

This site operates on the belief that readers deserve access to the same quality of evidence that researchers and clinicians use, presented without unnecessary jargon or hype. We are not physicians, and nothing on this site constitutes medical advice. But we are committed to accuracy, transparency, and intellectual honesty in everything we publish.
